Dr. Allen graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1984 and completed her family practice residency through the University of Utah in 1987.
Dr. Allen enjoys the wide variety of patients she sees, from the very young to the very old. She especially appreciates building long term relationships with her patients and knowing them in the context of their families and communities. She has a special interest in sports medicine, for which she received an extra qualification through the American Board of Family Medicine in 1999. She sees a large number of diabetic patients and strives to provide them with thorough and compassionate care.
Dr. Allen has also been an activist in organized medicine. She has been a delegate to the Utah Medical Association since 1990 and was elected Secretary of the UMA in 2005. She is a past president of the Salt Lake County Medical Society, having served in 2004. She also chairs the Third Party Relations Committee, which deals with insurance issues involving doctors and patients.
Her passions include directing the Darena Balkan Choir, gardening, biking, hiking, and being owned by two pedigreed cats, Tiara and Ariel. She is married to Craig Fineshriber, principal percussionist of the Utah Symphony Orchestra, and has three step children -- Kirsten, Aaron, and Carrie.
